Our Experience by Pastor Johnny Bell

My wife, my children and I know firsthand the misery heartache and pain brought on by a lifestyle of drug addiction. Even though we came from totally different sides of the fence, we both ended up in the same place called “the dumps”.

My wife was brought up in Foster Care, went to school and even college. By her own admittance she was an educated fool. Her first encounter with crack cocaine was to lose weight, which quickly turned to addiction. She sometimes worked two and three jobs just to support her habit.

My story’s a little different. As a little child I was molested by different individuals in my family, after being fed alcohol. I fought and struggled with those events in my life. I questioned my sexuality. Was I supposed to be with boys or girls? Men or women? All the time I was trying to drown out the pain with alcohol, sex, drugs, etc. I ended up quitting school, losing jobs, homes, respect and everything else that comes with living that lifestyle.

And even though our children were not drug addicts, they were forced to live a drug addict’s lifestyle.

More than 20 years later we can thank God for Restoration Ministry’s Men’s and Women’s Homes from which both of us are “graduates”. We are truly witnesses of the restoring power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Set - Intercessory Prayer

Come Pray With Us

Welcome to The Set!

This is a Harp and Bowl Worship Service.  Harp and Bowl worship is a practice where Harps (songs of Praise & Worship) and Bowls (prayers) are combined to create a dynamic structure for intercessory prayer  (inspired by Revelation 5:8).

Harp and Bowl emphasizes unified prayer, congregational singing, and a flow between intercession, worship, and personal prayer.  Join us in person or send your prayer request by using our chat icon or email us at info@stlrestorationchurch.org and we'll pray for you.

We center our prayer service around a monthly focus scripture which you can find below.

April Scripture Focus

Romans 15:13 (King James Version - NKJV)

13 Now may the God of hope FILL YOU WITH ALL JOY AND PEACE IN BELIEVING, THAT YOU MAY ABOUND IN HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 (New Living Translation - NLT)

13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 (The Voice - VOICE)

13 I pray that God, the source of all hope, will infuse your lives with an abundance of joy and peace in the midst of your faith so that your hope will overflow through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 (International Standard Version - ISV)

13 Now may God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you believe, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Focus for April 2026:

Prayer to be filled with supernatural joy, peace and hope.

Summary of this Scripture:

Romans 15:13 is a prayer where Paul asks God, the source of hope, to fill believers with joy and peace as they trust Him. Through the Holy Spirit, they can be full of hope and keep going with confidence, even in hard times.

  • God is the Source: He is explicitly called the "God of hope," establishing that true hope is anchored in him rather than circumstances.

  • The Process: This hope is attained through faith ("in believing") and sustained by the power of the Holy Spirit, not personal effort.

  • The Result: The result is a deep, overflowing experience of joy and peace.

  • Purpose: To "abound in hope" (or "overflow"), meaning Christians should have an abundance of hope that empowers them to endure and trust God during trials.

This verse serves as a summary of the Christian life, bringing together trust, joy, peace, and hope.

Context:

Christ came to serve the Jewish people as the fulfillment of all of God's promises to them. In doing so, He also became the hope of the Gentile peoples around the world. The Old Testament prophesies reveal that God's plan was always to receive praise from the Gentiles and to make it possible for them to be included in His grace. Paul prays a blessing of hope, joy, peace, and power for his Roman readers.

Key Prayer Points of This Scripture

These key points ask God to fill you with joy and peace as you trust Him, strengthen your faith when circumstances feel uncertain, and help you rely on the Holy Spirit’s power rather than your own strength. They also ask for an overflowing hope that becomes a visible witness—encouraging your family, church, and community.

  • God  of  hope, fill me completely  with joy and peace as I believe and trust You — let my heart not be ruled by  fear or anxiety.

  • Strengthen  my faith — help me  to keep believing in Your promises even when circumstances are uncertain.

  • Holy  Spirit, empower my inner life — let  Your power be at work in me daily, not my own strength or emotions.

  • Cause  me to abound and overflow with hope — make my life a witness of confident hope that encourages my family, church, and community.

Call to Action

This month, take one practical step each week that matches your prayers:

  • Ask God to fill you with joy and peace — then practice it by replacing one worry with a spoken promise from Scripture.

  • Strengthen your faith — write down one area where you need to trust God, and take one obedient step in that direction today.

  • Rely on the Holy Spirit’s power — pause before key conversations and decisions to pray, “Holy Spirit, lead me,” then follow His prompting.

  • Overflow with hope—encourage one person intentionally (a call, text, note, or prayer) so hope spreads beyond you.
