Our Experience by Pastor Johnny Bell
My wife, my children and I know firsthand the misery heartache and pain brought on by a lifestyle of drug addiction. Even though we came from totally different sides of the fence, we both ended up in the same place called “the dumps”.
My wife was brought up in Foster Care, went to school and even college. By her own admittance she was an educated fool. Her first encounter with crack cocaine was to lose weight, which quickly turned to addiction. She sometimes worked two and three jobs just to support her habit.
My story’s a little different. As a little child I was molested by different individuals in my family, after being fed alcohol. I fought and struggled with those events in my life. I questioned my sexuality. Was I supposed to be with boys or girls? Men or women? All the time I was trying to drown out the pain with alcohol, sex, drugs, etc. I ended up quitting school, losing jobs, homes, respect and everything else that comes with living that lifestyle.
And even though our children were not drug addicts, they were forced to live a drug addict’s lifestyle.
More than 20 years later we can thank God for Restoration Ministry’s Men’s and Women’s Homes from which both of us are “graduates”. We are truly witnesses of the restoring power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Please do a water only fast for as long as you can. When that is finished, please start a “Daniel” Fast — NO MEATS, NO SWEETS.
Please don't do the water fast or the Daniel Fast if you're not medically able. We don't want anyone to jeopardize their health. Instead give up something else you enjoy. For example you can stop watching television or doom scrolling on social media. If you smoke cigarettes (and we hope you don't) take a break from it. There are many ways you can fast. Choose the best one for you.
The Daniel Fast is a biblically-inspired, partial fast focused on spiritual growth, involving a strict plant-based diet (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, water) for 10-21 days, abstaining from meat, dairy, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol, with the goal of drawing closer to God, not weight loss, though it mirrors vegan principles.

6 No, what I want in a fast is this: to liberate those tied down and held back by injustice, to lighten the load of those heavily burdened, to free the oppressed and shatter every type of oppression.
7 A fast for Me involves sharing your food with people who have none, giving those who are homeless a space in your home, Giving clothes to those who need them, and not neglecting your own family.
8 Then, oh then, your light will break out like the warm, golden rays of a rising sun; in an instant, you will be healed. Your rightness will precede and protect you; the glory of the Eternal will follow and defend you.
9 Then when you do call out, “My God, Where are You?” The Eternal One will answer, “I am here, I am here.” If you remove the yoke of oppression from the downtrodden among you, stop accusing others, and do away with mean and inflammatory speech,
10 If you make sure that the hungry and oppressed have all that they need, then your light will shine in the darkness, And even your bleakest moments will be bright as a clear day.
11 The Eternal One will never leave you; He will lead you in the way that you should go. When you feel dried up and worthless, God will nourish you and give you strength. And you will grow like a garden lovingly tended; you will be like a spring whose water never runs out.
12 You will discover there are people among your own who can rebuild this broken-down city out of the ancient ruins; You will firm up its ancient foundations. And all around, others will call you “Repairer of Broken-Down Walls” and “Rebuilder of Livable Streets.”
Isaiah 58 reminds us that the kind of fasting God cares about isn’t just skipping meals — it’s opening our hearts. Real fasting shows up in how we treat people. It looks like lifting someone’s burden, helping those who are struggling, and choosing kindness when it would be easier to look away.
When your fast becomes compassion in action, God brings healing, clarity, and strength. Even when you feel empty or worn out, He fills you back up. Your life starts to shine again, even in dark moments.
God sees the quiet sacrifices you’re making. And as you pour out, He promises to fill you back up. He guides you, strengthens you, and refreshes you like a garden that never runs dry.

This is a Harp and Bowl Worship Service. Harp and Bowl worship is a practice where Harps (songs of Praise & Worship) and Bowls (prayers) are combined to create a dynamic structure for intercessory prayer (inspired by Revelation 5:8).
Harp and Bowl emphasizes unified prayer, congregational singing, and a flow between intercession, worship, and personal prayer. Join us in person or send your prayer request by using our chat icon or email us at info@stlrestorationchurch.org and we'll pray for you.
We center our prayer service around a monthly focus scripture which you can find below.
December/January Prayer Theme:
“Abounding in Love, Wisdom, and Righteousness”
Theme Explanation:
This month, let us focus our prayers on growing in love that is not just abundant, but also wise and discerning. The Apostle Paul’s prayer encourages us to seek a love that is guided by knowledge and discernment, so that we can choose what is truly excellent, live with sincerity, and be filled with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ. This brings glory and praise to God.
Focus Scripture: Philippians 1:9-11
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment,
10 that ye may approve things that are excellent, and that ye may be sincere and without offense until the Day of Christ,
11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Prayer Focus:
Lord, as we go into prayer this month, help our love to grow in wisdom and discernment, so we may live sincerely and bring glory to You.
Prayer Points:
1. Pray for Love to Abound: Ask God to help your love increase, not just in feeling, but in wisdom and discernment, so it may be a guiding force in all relationships and decisions.

3. Desire Righteousness: Request to be filled with the fruits of righteousness that come through Jesus Christ, so that your life brings glory and praise to God.
4. Call to Action: “Lord, let our love abound in wisdom and discernment. Guide us to pursue what is excellent with sincerity and fill us with the fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ, so that our lives together bring glory and praise to You.
